Going Green

Specific examples of Green Urbanism at The Domain include the following:

  • All buildings will be certified through LEED or Austin Green Builder.
  • At least 80% of all material from demolition will be recycled.
  • More than two dozen large live oak trees will be relocated on the site, while preserving hundreds of others.
  • Plans provide generous native vegetation, preservation of green space, and comfortably shaded outdoor gathering places—including more than ten acres of parks.
  • As an alternative to vehicles, pedestrian and bicycle-friendly streets will be incorporated, as well as accessibility to a nearby commuter rail stop.
  • The development conserves water through rainwater harvesting and planting of green roofs.
  • Energy is reduced throughout the site through high albedo roof coatings and the connection of one million square feet to the Austin Energy chilled water system.
